Kaypee Soh. Born in Malaysia, family and environment encouraged his interest in arts and crafts at an early age. With a passion for the creative, he left home to begin formal training in art at East Ham College in London. Kaypee studied hard, and explored many art forms watercolor, charcoal, and oil painting; but fell in love with the artistic side of commercial art, more specifically, graphic design for print media. Kaypee Soh graduated with Distinction, receiving the highest mark of any graduating student in 20 years at East Ham College. Consequently, the prestigious Pentagram Agency in London recruited Kaypee, catapulting him into a professional career in graphic design.With the ever-present desire to expand his portfolio and challenge his artistic style, he returned to his homeland of Malaysia to work at firms in Kuala Lumpur and neighboring Singapore. When his sister moved to Canada, an opportunity arrived for Kaypee to advance his craft in North America; first stop: Canada, Victoria, British Columbia, then Toronto. New York City, the ultimate experience for a graphic designer, beckoned and Kaypee Soh became a part of the Big Apples Madison Avenue creative stars, designing visual campaigns for LOreal USA, American Express, MTV, IBM, Altria, IBM, et al.This fine artist, photographer, and distinguished international graphic designer, has been composing award-winning images professionally for more than 20 years. All of his designs are a composition of original photography and graphics that reflect the places and experiences of living; a special time, place, or element caught in his photographic lens, then combined with the application of color, texture, and form to create distinctive one-of-a-kind artwork.Today Kaypee is Creative Director and Partner at Somace Design Group, a boutique multidisciplinary graphic-design studio based in Honolulu, Hawaii. Having his own design gallery has always been Kaypees goal. This is a new chapter in life that is allowing him to express his unique style in his art and lifestyle designs.Kaypee Soh says, I am fascinated with the essence of Hawaii, its culture, natural beauty, and climate all of these elements evoke fond memories of my life as a child in Malaysia. Hawaii inspires me to choose colors and textures that give my art a modern feel but also allow me to maintain a sense of antiquity.A resident of the island of Oahu, Kaypee Soh relaxes by creating new pieces of artwork with his and his partners three dogs at his feet. When not in a creative mood (which is very seldom), Kaypee enjoys practicing yoga or hiking the trails of Oahu. Like his art, he is a contrast of two worlds a reflection of nature and the spiritual, yet a city-boy at heart, energized by the sounds and sights of an urban lifestyle.
