Linda Brown spent her early years in upper New York State, moving to New Orleans, Louisiana when she was seven. She first received artistic acclaim as a senior in high school, by winning the international artistic award. Her contemporary oil painting of Jackson Square in New Orleans, Louisiana on a Sunday afternoon was exhibited throughout Europe. She went on to study art at the McGrady Art Institute, the University of New Orleans, Louisiana State University, and Newcomb College in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her contemporary oil paintings have been shown in the Tygier-Knight Gallery on Royal Street in the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana and are a part of numerous private collections in the South. With this extensive background, Linda Brown focused her talents into the three dimensional form of sculpting, which she considers the most expressive and challenging of the art forms. At Newcomb College in New Orleans, Louisiana under the tutelage of the renowned sculptor, Jules Struppeck, this evolution began. She has successfully transferred into her contemporary sculptures the same intense feeling that had characterized her oil paintings - feelings that provoked the viewer into a sensuous and thoughtful mood. Her contemporary oil paintings have been in several shows in the New Orleans area, including a judged show sponsored by the New Orleans Museum of Art.
