Tree of Knowledge
Stop thinking, be impressed, and just follow. This is the unspoken message that is daily inflicted upon us in various forms, rules, laws, rituals, habits, automation, lettering, etc.
A number of my paintings are exploring the color of Gold, the strange effect it has on us, and who is using it to impress us. Originally the symbol of the sun, the power over life and death, the symbol of leaders, kings, gods, it is still being used to impress us. It means authority, obey, and stop thinking. So think twice when you see letters in Gold.
What do they tell us about the original sin? The sin to question, to think, to be inquisitive?
In that respect the original sin is not a sin at all, rather liberation. Who has the right to ask for submission without giving a plausible reason? After all, paradise is a promise, not a fact.
