I've always loved the ocean - it balances both beauty and power so wonderfully.
One of our favorite vacation spots is Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina. It's not far from the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach, but the difference of a few miles creates a buffer that allows for a little relaxation. The last time we were there was late spring and the wind was just a little nippy but the beach was almost deserted. What a perfect time to enjoy more than just the baking sun!
The smell of the ocean, the constant breeze, the wet sand between my toes, all are memories I have tried to capture in this painting.
I am an admirer of many different types of art but my passion has always been for realistic and impressionist pieces done with character and emotion. The works of Vermeer, Degas, Monet, and Norman Rockwell are some of my favorites. In my own work, I try to create a welcoming atmosphere to my landscapes - to create a place where the viewer can imagine being and experiencing, not just a pretty view. I paint mostly in acrylics - I am too impatient for oils and I also appreciate the flexibility allowed with acrylics that can't be achieved with oils. I also do pencil, charcoal, and ink drawings as well as some watercolor. As a child and then teenager, I drank in every art class available but have no true formal training or degree in fine arts. I do hold a certificate in Commercial Art from a technical school and spent many years in the printing industry producing and supervising graphic designs both mechanical and digital.I have only recently begun to devote my full attention to painting and am enjoying every minute of it. I've been married for 28 years to the same lucky man, am the mother of two grown children and grandmother of four beautiful grandchildren. In my spare time I read, surf the web, cook, and do crafts.

||Great clor combination. Very peaceful and calming.
|| ...the land/Sea connection is an unusual one. Cooler sea colors contrasting... nicely with the warmer accents of the sea oats... Strong diagonals & horizontals create a rhythmic interplay within within the confines of this eye-catching design...
