An alumnus of Stellenbosch University School of Fine Art, Maggie has exhibited in more than 12 group exhibitions and 9 solo shows. She boasts numerous awards, grants and commendations and her paintings are sought out by international collectors. Original oil paintings are included in the permanent collections of Zimbali Lodge, Best Little Guest House, Villa Taormina and The Arts Association of Bellville in South Africa.
Most of her life has been spent in South Africa so naturally, in her earlier work, she has focused on the animals of Africa. However, she has been fortunate to travel the world and visit such countries as England, USA (including Hawaii), Costa Rica, Bahamas, France, Spain, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Borneo in search of inspiration for her paintings.
Maggie’s life is rich with great travel adventures and wildlife encounters. From being attacked by hungry baboons on the Cape Peninsula, bungee jumping in New Zealand and flying over the tree canopies in the jungles of Costa Rica to feeding bananas to monkeys at a temple in Bali , her travel experiences and observations leads her to develop her unique and exacting artistic style, rendering her subjects with depth, vibrancy and exquisite detail.
Prior to resuming her career as a full-time artist in 2006, Maggie has enjoyed a long corporate career working for a non-profit educational organization, a start-up company, several Fortune 500 companies such as PricewaterhouseCoopers and Verizon, for IBM Global Business Consulting Services as Information Architect & Sr. Consultant and most recently as Sr. Information Architect & Project Manager for Dell Inc. She is currently partner at a qualitative research consulting company called Customer Relevance.
In her spare time, Maggie likes to adventure and travel with her husband, Darin. Maggie has lived for a while in Pretoria, Stellenbosch, London, Florida, California, Dallas and Illinois before moving with her husband to Austin, TX. After their time in Singapore and Asia for 9 months, they plan to return to their home in Austin where they will be reunited with their two jack russell terriers, Basil and Mr. Bean.
