Artist: Elizabeth Fraser

About the Artist,
Elizabeth Fraser:
Elizabeth has been painting since 1995 when her younger artist brother, Michael, inspired her to try her first oil painting. What she thought to be a fun hobby has turned into her greatest passion. New England landscapes are her inspiration. Elizabeth paints with bright, bold colors, and big brush strokes, relaying a mood or feeling about her subject to the viewer. Elizabeth has sold her work internationally and dedicates much of her time to her artwork. She lives in Portland, Maine with her partner and 4 pets. When not painting, she works as a professional picture framer at Casco Bay Frames. Foreign language, travel, kayaking, and walking her dogs are a few of her favorite hobbies

Artist Statement
Elizabeth Fraser
I am a self taught artist who enjoys working in oils, pastels and woodblock printing. My subjects include places and things from my everyday life that I know well and cherish, many of which I can paint by heart, or from memory.
I create my artwork giving it movement and feeling. My expressive style of bright colors, bold brush strokes and suggestive cuts is my signature. I want to draw the viewer in to the piece and have them feel the mood ... have them squint at the blinding sunrise, smell the sea breeze, shiver at the cold of a dark winter night or relish in the warmth of a sunny day.
Each medium I work in has it's own style, but the end result is the same: an impressionistic representation of the places and things I adore; a piece of artwork filled with emotion, expression and drama.
