Artist: Liliana Bordoni
Biography
Liliana Bordoni was born in Rome on September 1955, where she lives and works.
She takes degrees in Law and then, in Psychology.
When she was young, began to be interested in painting and sculpture, but her artistry revealed itself in the clay-working.
Her first sculptures reflect the exigency to firmly anchor the bodies to the “mother-earth” as though they were still born. At the same time, she gives herself up to study the human body, searching the anatomic particular that makes possible to vibrate the whole figure’s soul.
The sculptures of Liliana Bordoni look more and more inspired from the harmony of lines, contours, empty and full spaces. So, through her way of sculpture, she stirs up emotions and sensations about bodies with a minimum of definition.
The artist likes female figures. She believes in the incomparable and suffused harmony
that gives off from the female body. She likes too couple of figures, a symbol of a unique, ancient and close love-bond.
In her artistic production we can find also masks and visages, mysterious, ineffable and unspeakable faces. Through these sculptures, in the clay are fixed impressions and flashes from outward or unconscious images.
For the decoration, she has a predilection for stove-enamels, then patina, wax, pigments and acrylic too. She searches the particular chromatic effect to exalt the meaning of every sculpture.
