All that we are and will ever become is because of Family, the principles and attributes of our Mothers and Fathers. The sweat that drips from Michael's game face symbolizes the ultimate sacrifice...a complete mental, spiritual, and physical offering of all energies to the game of basketball. As this sweat drips, it directs the viewer to behold tears that fall from the right eye. Within the largest tear falling from his face, I’ve placed a gentle revealing portrait of Michael's Father. Tears are the first sign of healing and this strategic placement helps to symbolize the fact that his Father's spirit is alive and permeates every aspect of his existence. Everyone knows about the Slam dunking and the high flying grace that Michael exudes on and off the court. With “Championship Tears,” I wanted to create an everlasting tribute to a uniquely genuine Father/Son relationship.
