BOB FRANKLIN
Bob Franklin paints in a contemporary style depicting religious and cultural subject matter drawing from what he describes as divine inspiration. Working in pastels and artfully utilizing light and shadow, all of his subjects have inspired Bob to create works that will resonate in the viewers mind. Franklin draws inspiraton from world renowned greats like El Greco, Velazquez, and Botticelli, which can be seen in his similar choice of palette. Born in 1948, in the city of Philadelphia, Franklin came to San Marcos, Texas in 1990 and fell in love with the southwestern culture and traditions. The missions and churches of the southwest have served as a spiritual journey for him. One of his most popular churches, and always his favorites, Rancho De Taos, are readily identified with Bob's dramatic style. Bob's florals are masculine scenes inspired by a vase and then filled with flowers. Franklins soulful paintings are collected throuout the Southwest region of the United Sates, in both private and corporate collections.
