MARIROSA HOFMANN
Marirosa Hofmann was born in Colorado Springs, CO and spent most of youth in Charlotte, NC. She comes from a bicultural home with a Spanish mother and an American father. The many trips to Spain when she was a child gave her a great understanding and appreciation for fine art and grew into inspiration for her own work. Marirosa began painting and drawing as far back as she can remember. She has always wanted to be an artist and she has made that happen through drive, ambition and a great talent for painting and sculpting. Marirosa Hofmann graduated in 1992 from North Carolina School of the Arts and then moved on to complete her BFA from Atlanta College of Art with a major in Painting and a minor in Sculpture. Through experience and inspiration from her favorite artists, Climt and Egon Schile, Marirosa has created her own unique style, incorporating painting and sculpting, that has captured the eye of many viewers. “I find working with many layers of patterns, colors and collage to be a very meditative process. Through this process, I create the illusion of atmosphere and depth in the fields of overlapping colors and textures. I want the viewers to find themselves lost in the nuances of my work, giving them a moment of visual and emotional meditation and release. My pallet consists of calming earthtones with contrasting dark deep rich colors to create movement; carrying the viewer throughout the painting. I create works with the feeling of balance but with out the use of total symmetry. I use tar to create dark depth and gold as the reflection of light.” You can find many of Marirosa Hofmann’s works in galleries across Georgia, North Carolina as well as in Spain.
