Steve Hanks, whose paintings sensitively portray women and children, spent his childhood on the coast of California. His inspiration to paint developed in his late teens after his family moved from Ventura County to New Mexico. Hanks returned to the West Coast when he enrolled at the University of California at Berkeley. Later, he attended the Academy of Art in San Francisco and graduated from the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland.
Hanks' book, "Poised Between Heartbeats," captures over 170 of his beautiful paintings. It has won accolades from critics and collectors.
Hanks has won many awards and honors, including Artist of the Year at the Pacific Rim Art Exposition. As a featured artist at the prestigious Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, more than 40 originals of Hanks work were featured. U.S. Art has ranked Hanks among America's top artists for more than 10 years.
