HISTORY & BACKGROUND

Asha Menghrajani grew up in the Philippines, but traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, Egypt, Dubai and Mexico before choosing California as her home in 1992. She chose California specifically as a place to nurture her art. She has been able to take advantage of the range of art schools taking courses in everything from charcoal drawing, oil and watercolor painting and fabric design.

"My passion for painting began when I learned the art of Chinese watercolor and calligraphy. My art reflects the myriad of cultures. More meditative and intuitive, it evokes calmness and solitude. Looseness and uncertainty, above all, are important to my interpretation of the mysterious energy of the spirit."
