"Epona" - An original painting by Emily Balivet. Acrylic on 20"x24"x.75" stretched canvas, 2009.
The Celtic Goddess, Epona, draped in red stands between two horses in a vast landscape. Her name means "Divine mare" in Gaulish. The mare was an ancient symbol of fertility, this has lead to suggestions that she was an early Mother Goddess figure, whose role was later reduced to protector of horses.
The unframed canvas has been coated with varnish for protection. All paintings packaged professionally and shipped via insured Priority mail.
