In tribute to Michael Parkes and modern Illustrator Pascal Blanche this painting is besides that my personal indication of post - surrealism with a hint of retro cyber romantic attitude and love for steampunk aesthetic.
The symbolism behind should depict the situation of a disquisition , a situation that everyone has experienced in his/ her life: after you know how things go you don´t need wings to fly, wearing them is a crown and make you stand above all things - while the apprentice does not.
Referring to that need of wings in a place in the skies like this floating kind of a city in the air makes it a privilege to earn wings to life even when it all comes from the mind - and literally they where not needed at all- as comparison to real life: we all wear things to look or be like someone we want to be , but our inner self is way different. Striving for this representational being is essential to us humans.
