This painting appears to be in the style of the old masters from the Renaissance. An astute ability to represent even the tiniest detail, which was accomplished by many Renaissance artists, is also executed successfully in Fitzgerald’s painting from the 20th century. The main figure in the painting echoes in stance and gaze, the person who is depicted in the painting that hangs on the wall. Yet, the main figure in Fitzgerald’s work, perhaps Anna, has a glow about their head and body which radiates off the canvas. This quality immediately draws the viewer’s eye to this figure. Only later does the painting in the background come into view.
