Les Luxemberger
12 x 12 Acrylic
Item #:1213
$80

Les is a dynamic, energetic visual artist who has been actively creating artwork since the age of six. He vividly recounts waking up one morning and having the desire to create comic books! Starting with cartoon characters, Les created several comic books, and wrote his first Fantasy novel at the age of 13. When Les entered high school, his artistic practice evolved to include painting, drawing and pastel, focusing on such subject matter as portraits, still life, wildlife, and abstract concepts.

Throughout his high school years, Les immersed himself in art programs, and well as into university and his adult life. At McMaster University, Les took a strong interest in art history and comparative literature, which revealed a new world of visual styles, creative elements and ideas – a key influence in helping him develop his critical eye as an artist, and giving him exposure to contemporary artists and approaches.

Les went on to complete a one-year intensive program at Sheridan College in Visual art methods for Animators, which gave him a strong foundation in art fundamentals. It was at Sheridan College that Les’ skills as a visual artist really shined and bloomed and his style became more open, fluid, experimental and playful. Leslie went on to study at several prominent art schools in Ontario including: Mississauga Valley School of Art, Maxx the Mutt Animation school, and eventually Newmarket School of Art, where I taught fine art for one year (January 2010-2011).
