The paint seems to change colors in person -- in direct sunlight, the borders around the ceramic pieces appear a brilliant blue. In indoor lighting, however, the blue darkens almost to a black, creating a much more somber piece. I created this as a response to creating several more calculated works in a row. I needed to create a painting that freed my arm from the labor involved in works like 'Ocean Theme', and I am very pleased with the result. --Devin.
