James Del Grosso

Artist James Del Grosso is known for his exquisite imagery and realistic style of conveying simple beauty. His objects are uncomplicated in their placement and form. Preferring to work with a single light source, Del Grosso is able to create dramatic chiaroscuro effects and a sense of pure color. Utilizing a camera is part of his process in capturing the scene objectively with maximum detail. He then meticulously paints each image, working with thin washes of color in numerous layers in order to achieve the desired effect.

Del Grosso’s talent is recognized throughout the country and galleries on both coasts represent him. He has participated in countless exhibitions for the past three decades and is included in many prestigious collections, including the Butler Institute of American Art, The Philbrook Art Center, General Foods and E.F. Hutton.
