Artist Bio

Originally from Germany, Helmut (Pete) Beckmann has lived in the United States since 1956. Primarily a painter of the outdoors, he finds limitless inspiration in his adopted country, saying he is continually "overwhelmed and awed by the beauty and diversity of its landscape." His work conveys everything from rugged mountains to tranquil and picturesque forests with an energetic fervor.

Beckmann’s media include acrylic, oil, watercolor and, pastel. His enthusiasm for art is evident through his countless lectures and painting demonstrations on The Joy of Painting. His canvases have received numerous awards and are featured in several thousand corporate and private collections in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Beckmann lives and works out of his studio gallery in Toledo, Ohio.
