This 12x12" painting with collage is executed on Stonehenge, 90#, 100% cotton paper. This colorful piece is complex in design and execution and many steps were needed to complete it.
1st: the paper was prepped with Gesso, which prepared the surface for the application of the paint.
2nd: the design of the piece was laid out.
3rd: the solid blocks of color were laid, then the painted patterns were applied.
4th: the selection of the paper collage was made, this being time consuming because many choices were discarded before the 'right' one was found, cut and adhered.
5th: next the 3-d collage elements were carefully picked and added to enhance the final product. Many of these are rhinestones and sequins...anything that added the necessary sparkle.
6th & finally: a varnish finish was applied to the surface. This helps maintain the integrity of the collage and also heightens the intensity of the colors.
The end result is a small, charmer appropriate for nearly any room in your home. Other pieces in this series are available so two or more together make a nice grouping.
